Lexington, KY---- FGX SepTech, LLC, teamed with Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, wins a research grant provided by the Illinois Clean Coal Institution (ICCI).

This grant will fund a proposed project, entitled as Evaluation of FGX Dry Separator for Cleaning Illinois Basin Coal, led by Dr. Manoj K. Mohanty, full professor in SIU’s Mining and Mineral Resources Engineering Department. Illinois Basin has extensive coal reserves, and the coal industry over there is facing the challenge of an increasing amount rock in ROM coal due to changing geological conditions of different coal seams. Removing rock from ROM coal is a process usually referred as deshaling. This project is seeking developing effective deshaling methods by applying the FGX dry coal separator on different coals in Illinois Basin.
